Yaxley Festival – thank you!

Yaxley Festival is over again for another year, the rubbish cleared, the field returned to its normal state and now it’s time to say our thank yous. Firstly, thanks to all our amazing volunteers, those who have worked tirelessly all year as committee members and to those who volunteered over the Festival week for the build days, the event, or the break down (in more ways than one!) after the event. Guiding the way

When I am out and about in my Guider’s uniform people instantly know what organisation I belong to.  So many women chat and often say “Oh, I used to love Guides” or “Brownies was a lot of fun” or(often) “my daughter absolutely adores Rainbows!”  If you are one of those ladies then how about reliving your childhood in Guiding by becoming a leader. Men United In Song

Supporting prostate cancer UK On Saturday 22 July Peterborough’s much-loved Broadway Theatre will open its doors for Men United in Song, a charity concert supporting Prostate Cancer UK.  Starting from scratch in April, the Men United guys – most of them with no previous singing experience – are rehearsing over 15 weeks towards the concert. Together with Peterborough Male Voice Choir, they will be performing a varied programme of choral favourites, ballads, and songs from the shows in what promises to be a really memorable evening! The balmy weather of July sees plants spurting with growth in the garden provided of course there is enough water about. It is also the time of year when the aphids make their presence known Greenfly descend on roses and virtually every other plant imaginable whilst blackfly love nasturtiums and broad beans. Broadway Bowls

Well, after a great start to the season, the bubble hasn’t quiet burst, but it is deflated a little.  In the Over 60’s Premier league our teams lie 2nd (the Spitfires), and 8th (The Hurricanes).  The Midweek teams Kites are 6th in the Premier, the Falcons 6th in Div.1 with the Eagles 5th in Div 4.  Weekend teams Sharks are 2nd in Premier; the Seals top Div.2 and hope to bounce straight back to Div.1 Good luck to our Men and Women still involved in the county knock-out competition, let’s hope some will make it all the way to...
