Bowls Club

Another summer season passes with joy and some sadness. As far as the bowls was concerned in the league fixtures it was a year of consolidation. Most of our teams held their own in their respective divisions. The one bright note was our weekend Seals team who were quite rightly promoted back to Division 1. This was off set by disappointment from our over 60’s Hurricanes team, they were demoted from the Premiership division. The fi nal game of the season was played late in September in honour of our 2017 President, Gill King. On a pleasant day, with a good turnout the eventual winners of the Presidents Bowl were: Bob Tills, Peter White, Marlene Osborne and Andrew Cooper. It is with sadness that I report on the passing of Bob Collin, one of the stalwarts of our Bowls Club. Bob, a life member, had been involved with the club for over 30 years. During his time at the club he served on the committee, driving through radical changes that saw the club get a new pavilion. His advice on the maintenance of the green made certain that the club reached EBA, (English Bowls Association) standards and ensured that we always had a good surface to play on. Yaxley Scouts & Guides Firework Display

Yaxley Scouts & Guides are pleased to announce that our 2017 fireworks display will be held on Saturday 4 November. As previous years, the display is held on the Three Horseshoes pub field, Main St, Yaxley, PE7 3LD. The gates open at 6pm with the fireworks launched at 7pm. There is also a large bonfire that will be lit at approximately 6:15pm (conditions permitting). Traditional bonfire party food is available at sensible prices (£2 for a burger or hotdog!), hot drinks, a licenced bar and other attractions.
